Vitamin C Skin Care
Skin is the largest organ in the human body. Unfortunately, it is often exposed to the sun and to environmental pollutants, both of which result in oxidative stress that leads to cellular damage, and thus to discoloration, dehydration, fine lines and wrinkles, and other skin health issues.
Enzymes and Non-Enzymes
Skin protects itself from these types of damage in two ways: enzymatically, which we have no way to control or augment, and non-enzymatically, which we can affect through supplements taken topically or orally.
With new skin care products from Hale Cosmeceuticals that contain vitamin C, skin is supplied with 1 of the 3 major non-enzymatic antioxidants, L-ascorbic acid (the others are tocopherols, or vitamin E, and Co-Enzyme Q10).
Pure Ascorbic Acid—No Derivatives
While there are many forms of vitamin C, including sodium ascorbate, ascorbyl palmitate, and sodium ascorbyl phosphate, only L-ascorbic acid is pure vitamin C. It is also, in this form, most easily absorbed by your skin, giving the best results.
Unstable—But We’ve Solved That
Unfortunately, anti-oxidants are inherently unstable. If you see vitamin C or E products that are brown, they have probably degraded. Exposure to heat or light can easily cause this. Fortunately, with our unique cold-water manufacturing process, we avoid exposure to damaging heat, ensuring that the ascorbic acid within our vitamin C skin care products remains stable and effective.
