    What is Combination Skin?

The skin is the largest organ of our body and not all of us have the same kind of skin. We typically think of a few different skin types which we can categorize. Oily, dry and combination are three of the major skin types. Each one of them has different features. Understanding what skin type you have is very important so that you use the right products for it.

In this blog let's discuss what combination skin is and how you can identify it.

    What Is Combination Skin?

Combination skin is the combination of two types of skin: oily and dry. This means that your skin is not completely dry and nor is it completely oily. You can have patches of skin on your face that are dry and some that are extremely dry.

People who have combination skin types usually have a very oily T zone that starts at their forehead and forms a T on the nose. These people also have dry patches of skin on their cheeks. Combination skin is not a problem but it exists genetically. However, the extent of oiliness and dryness can change over time due to the season and other hormone levels.

How Do You Know You Have Combination Skin?

If you are wondering whether or not you have combination skin, you can look at the following signs to determine whether you have combination skin or not.

    • Appearances of oil on some parts of your skin a little while after you wash your face.
    • Moisturizer can make oily parts of your face even oilier.
    • Large pores on the T-zone, these pores should be bigger in size than the pores on your cheeks and elsewhere.
    • Acne breakouts only on the T-zone suggest that you have oily skin.
    • Oily T-zone during the winters. If you still have oily skin during the winters then that suggests that you have oily skin.

If these indicators are all too familiar for you then there is no doubt that you have oily skin. Now that you know for sure that you have oily skin, you must learn how to look after it in the best way possible.

How to Care For Combination Skin?

Caring for combination skin can be a lot different than caring for dry or oily skin, here are some tips to help you with skincare:

    Exfoliate Your Skin

Skin exfoliation is a very important step in your skincare routine as it will help you get rid of all the dead skin. Exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells and debris, and in skin areas where oil production is high, can help reduce breakouts.

    Hydrate Properly

The oilier parts of combination skin are caused by an over production of sebum and oils. The drier parts of the skin are caused by a lack of sebum in those areas. The key for this skin type is to find the balance between moisturizing and clogging pores. You don’t need two different routines, just the right one!

Lightweight moisturizers and alcohol-free cleansers are beneficial to both parts of combination skin.

    Don't Touch Your Face

Last but not the least, avoid touching your face excessively. Touching your face will only carry germs to your skin and result in a breakout.
