At-Home Skin Care and How To Achieve Flawless Skin!

You don’t need a ton of money or a beauty guru to achieve and maintain a flawless complexion — you simply need quality products and the willingness to commit to a strict beauty routine. People of the internet shared their top secrets for a year-round glowing complexion, and now we want to share them with you.

    Identify Your Skin Type

Skin type matters, and if you use the wrong products for your type, you may end up worsening an issue rather than making it better. Though you may suspect you know your skin type, you should run a quick test just to be sure. There are seven types of skin you may have:

    • Normal: You have normal skin if you don’t experience many breakouts, your complexion remains complacent despite the changes in weather or products, and you don’t feel the constant need to blot oil or moisturize all day long. Lucky you!
    • Oily: If you keep a blotter on hand and can’t seem to keep products from sweating away from your face, you have oily skin.
    • Dry: Sensitivity, itchiness, flakiness and cracks are all signs of dry skin.
    • Combination: If you feel as if you fall somewhere between dry and oily skin, you have combination skin. Combination skin is typically characterized by an oily t-zone and dry or normal skin around the rest of your face.
    • Acne Prone: If you are prone to breakouts, your pores tend to clog easily and you may benefit from very lightweight products and exfoliants.
    • Sensitive: You have sensitive skin if your complexion is constantly flushed, reacts poorly to changes in climate or products or is patchy and flaky.
    • Mature: Wrinkles, dark spots, sagging and dullness are all signs of maturing skin.

It’s important to note that your skin type may change throughout the year. For instance, during the summer you may have oily skin, during the winter you may have dry skin and in the in-between months, you may enjoy normal skin. This is normal and, like most people, may call for a change in skincare routine as the weather changes.

Know What Steps Make Up a Healthy Skincare Regime

Once you identify your skin type, know what steps you need to take to maintain a clear and glowing complexion. There are five steps to a healthy complexion, and while most people complete two or three of them on a daily basis, it is rare for a person to do all five:

    • Cleanse
    • Tone
    • Serums
    • Moisturize
    • Protect

Perform the first four steps with products for your skin type twice a day. Apply sunscreen before you apply your makeup and after you moisturize to prevent the sun’s UV rays harming to your complexion.

Change Your Lifestyle for the Better

All the products and serums in the world are useless when up against poor lifestyle habits. Staying up late, eating junk food, smoking and heavy drinking can all take a toll on your complexion. If you truly want to live with flawless skin, be kind to your body and your mind. Get the recommended seven to nine hours of sleep. Relax, as stress can lead to wrinkles and fine lines. Workout to get the color back into your face, and lay off the sugar.

A healthy skincare routine will look different for everyone. Build the one that is right for your complexion, starting with the basics from Hale Cosmeceuticals. See how you can achieve beauty from the inside out.
