PRODUCT DETAILS

With Zinc Oxide to serve as a broad-spectrum protector against UVA/UVB rays, several ingredients in this formulation help to restore the skin’s barrier protection and moisture, which come under attack by sun exposure. Vitamin F and Shea butter will help protect the skin barrier and retain moisture, as sun exposure can lead to damaged and dry skin. These ingredients also have anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties which are strongly supported by Turmeric, to reduce inflammation and irritation from the sun!

Zinc Oxide (20%)

Zinc oxide is a very powerful natural mineral which has been used for a variety of skin benefits for hundreds of years. The first mention of zinc oxide for its use on skin and wounds is thought to be in 500BC, in the Charaka Samhita, an ancient Indian medical text. Zinc oxide has continued to be used in modern times for a variety of purposes on the skin. It is often used to reduce skin irritation, skin damage from burns or scars, as well as skin barrier protection and moisture retention. Another common use of Zinc Oxide is as a powerful natural mineral sunscreen agent.

As a sunscreen ingredient, Zinc Oxide is thought to act as a shield-like barrier on top of your skin. It scatters, reflects, and absorbs harmful UVA and UVB rays. In our Surya SPF-35, we take advantage of the many properties of Zinc Oxide to create a well-rounded skincare and skin health product that provides Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB protection from the Sun.

Vitamin F

Not a vitamin in the traditional sense of the word, Vitamin F is just a term for the combination of two essential two fatty acids. Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA) and Linoleic Acids (LA) are two fatty acids that can help give you plump, glowing, healthy-looking skin. The term ‘Vitamin F’ is more like an abbreviation that stands for ‘fats.’ Both of these essential fatty acids are considered polyunsaturated fatty acids, with ALA belonging to the family of Omega-3 while LA is an Omega-6 EFA. Vitamin F helps our skin retain moisture, strengthen its natural barrier function, and reduce inflammation, similar to ceramides.

Vitamin F functions to help restore and protect the skin lipid barrier. This helps our skin serve it’s purpose to keep out pathogens, bacteria, and UV rays. Topical Vitamin F application can also improve rosacea and eczema, which are often worsened when the skin barrier is compromised. Vitamin F also helps to lock in moisture on the skin and reduce TEWL (trans-epidermal water loss). In sum, Vitamin F will give your skin a healthy, natural glow!

Turmeric/Curcuminoids

Also known by one of its active compounds (curcumin or curcuminoids), Turmeric has been a part of skincare regimens for many years. Many people believe it has healing properties, while others prefer the golden ingredient for its cosmetic and beauty benefits. Curcuminoids have potent anti-inflammatory properties, helping soothe skin, especially in painful conditions like eczema or psoriasis. The other benefits of turmeric for the skin include brighten skin tone and reduce dark spots.

Shea Butter

Shea butter is derived from African shea nuts and is rich in fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins (Vitamins A, D, E). Shea butter also contains five fatty acids and natural phytosterols. Shea butter is excellent to hydrate and calm the skin, and can also help to fade scars.

KEY INGREDIENTS

Turmeric is a powerful natural anti-inflammatory that contains curcumin, which is the active ingredient to decrease inflammation and oxidation
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin found in vegetable oils, nuts, and seeds. It has properties that overall supports the skin's immune system, reduce inflammation, and also protects against UV rays. Vitamin E lives in cell membranes, so it serves to strengthen the skin barrier and retain moisture in the skin.
Zinc oxide is an active ingredient that works right away. It instantly creates a physical barrier between your skin and the sun to protect you from its harmful effects. Zinc oxide does not cause any harm to the skin. It is suitable to be used on sensitive skin, and is also often used to treat minor skin irritations.
Vitamin F is not a typical "vitamin", but a combination of essential Fatty acids that locks in moisture (prevents TEWL), restores the natural lipid barrier of the skin, and helps give the skin a healthy glow.
