Intensive Hydration as a Wrinkle Treatment and How to Get It

There are two main reasons why fine lines and wrinkles begin to show after your 20s:

  1. Natural collagen production decreases
  2. Natural production and storage capacity of hyaluronic acid decreases

So, it stands to reason that one sure-fire strategy to combat fine lines and wrinkles is to replenish hyaluronic acid and boost your skin’s ability to retain moisture. And Hale Cosmeceuticals has just the product you need for visible results.

Basic Facts about Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is a humectant—a substance that attracts water. It’s ability to attract and hold water make it an excellent lubricator, which is why it is an essential component in: Continue reading Intensive Hydration as a Wrinkle Treatment and How to Get It

Can Stress Cause Wrinkles?

Youth and beauty, like time and money, have been and still are valued by almost everyone throughout the ages. Though there have been cultures and times when wrinkles were considered to be respected as a sign of wisdom, they have become more of a nuisance and reminder that we have spent too much time in the sun.

But, can stress cause wrinkles? Is it more than just oxidative stress that is etching lines in your countenance? The short answer is yes.

How Stress Causes Wrinkles

The relationship with stress and wrinkles is somewhat complex, but to make a long story short, stress can cause wrinkles in several ways.

  1. Poor diet and breathing

When people are under stress, they tend to eat and breathe poorly. Decreased oxygen and nutrition will diminish cellular vitality and resilience.

  1. Muscle fatigue and memory

People under duress tend to furrow and frown more. Over time, the muscles used to smile and lift atrophy while those lines seem to get etched into your complexion, chasing away your youthful appearance

  1. Oxidative stress

If stress causes you to drink more alcohol or smoke, you add oxidative stress at the cellular level, diminishing the collagen and elastin in your dermal matrix and speeding up the formation of wrinkles.

That isn’t all, either. Research is now showing that prolonged stress also leads to the premature shortening of telomeres. Telomeres are the regions at the end of our chromosomes that naturally shorten as we age. When telomeres get too short, they can no longer function in cell reproduction. That means skin cells with shortened telomeres die, reducing the rate of skin cell turnover that keeps your skin looking youthful. So, though we know wrinkles are often inevitable, they may come ahead of time if we have a stressful lifestyle.

The Good News about Stress and Wrinkles

Stress does not have to be a way of life. Though many of us have gotten used to stress and think that all we can do is manage it, there are actually ways to reduce stress and professionals who can help us do just that. Changing the way we perceive situations and respond to them can make a huge difference; improving nutrition and hydration will, too.

Of course, in the meantime, there are also a number of skincare technologies that can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Check out Hale Cosmeceuticals’ line of potent antioxidant products.

Why Does Aging Cause Wrinkles?

Everyone develops wrinkles with age, but wrinkles are caused by a combination of factors, many of which are in our control. Wrinkles can be caused by lifestyle choices and habits — such as smoking and exposure to UV light — as well as normal aging. The cause of most wrinkles and skin aging comes down to an important protein called collagen.

Collagen Production and Aging
Collagen is an important protein found in connective tissue throughout your body. This substance, found in everything from your bones to your skin, forms a gelatin-like structure that gives your skin structure and strength. As you get older, your body’s production of collagen decreases and collagen in the skin degrades. After the age of 20, your collagen production declines by about 1% per year. Remaining collagen and elastin fibers in the skin become looser and clump together, which makes Continue reading Why Does Aging Cause Wrinkles?
