At Hale Cosmeceuticals, our in-house research and development team uses advanced technologies to create exceptional skincare. We formulate high-quality skincare products that are people- and animal-friendly, and that means we do not use animal byproducts. We prefer to source our active ingredients from plant sources. And out of our product lineup, we have five favorite botanical extracts that are absolute must-haves for healthy skin:
Emblica Extract
Emblica extract, also known as Emblica officinalis, Phyllanthus Emblica, Indian gooseberry or amla, is the fruit of a deciduous tree native to India but also found in China, Indonesia and the Malay Peninsula. It is a source of vitamin C, essential minerals, amino acids and phenolic compounds.
Emblica extract is used in Ayurvedic medicine and regarded highly for its antioxidant qualities that provide anti-aging benefits. It has also been shown to lighten skin, making it an ideal treatment for hyperpigmentation and that's why you'll find emblica extract in our Vitamin C Ferulic Acid Serum and SB-7 Skin Brightener.
Cinnamon-derived ferulic acid is a potent antioxidant that helps prevent free-radical damage and reverse signs of aging, including fine lines and wrinkles.
Ferulic acid works well on its own but performs even better when combined with other antioxidants, such as vitamin C and vitamin E. And that's a combination you'll find in our Vitamin C and Ferulic Acid Serum and SB-7 Skin Brightener.
Marula oil is an extract from the fruit of the African marula tree. It is rich inessential fatty acids that mimic those naturally found in your skin without causing pore congestion. It is also a source for vitamin C, vitamin E and flavonoids.
Marula oil is a key ingredient in our rejuvenating Marula Masque.
Papain is an enzyme extracted from papaya. It promotes skin renewal and lightening of pigmentation. Papain also helps combat the free radicals that cause signs of premature aging.
This botanical extract complements the effects of marula oil in our Marula Masque.
Green tea offers well-known health benefits when ingested, and those benefits can often be gotten through topical application as well. Green tea's antioxidant properties and skin-soothing benefits and perfect for sun-damaged skin and skin prone to inflammation.
Green tea works with vitamin K for inflammation relief in our Profile K milk lotion.
Ellagic acid is a plant-derived polyphenol found in dark fruits such as blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and pomegranates. In topical skincare, it stands out for antioxidant and skin-soothing benefits that make it especially useful for skin exposed to UV stress and other environmental damage.
Ellagic acid can help reduce inflammation in sun-damaged skin and may support skin firmness by inhibiting matrix metalloproteinase (MMP), an enzyme involved in collagen breakdown. It is also a tyrosinase inhibitor, which means it can help brighten the look of skin and improve the appearance of discoloration.
You'll find ellagic acid in our Soft Finishing Moisturizer, a formula designed to soothe dry, stressed skin.
